Stormwater Systems Research Intern

- Develop EPA SWMM models of campus drainage networks to simulate runoff routing and stormwater system performance during intense rainfall events.
- Deployed hydrologic monitoring systems across 10 stormwater BMPs, including water-level loggers and V-notch weirs, to quantify runoff attenuation, infiltration, and water-quality response.
- Developed a Python-based rainfall-runoff model for the Bedford Field Hockey Facility using the Green-Ampt infiltration method to investigate runoff generation under simulated extreme rainfall events.
Disaster Risk Reduction Research Intern

- Investigated agricultural systems as decentralized infrastructure for disaster resilience, comparing German and Japanese approaches to flood risk management and emergency response.
- Conducted GIS-based flood risk analysis in Mabi District, Japan, overlaying flood inundation, farmland, and infrastructure datasets to assess infrastructure exposure and identify agricultural areas that could support emergency response during flood events.
- Applied Google Earth Engine, HEC-HMS, and HEC-RAS to analyze watersheds, simulate rainfall-runoff processes, and assess flood inundation in Bavarian basins, including the Altmühl River.
Hydrology and Geospatial Modeling Intern

- Developed a Random Forest flood susceptibility model for Tashkent, Uzbekistan using topographic, rainfall, historical flood reports, and land-use predictors in Google Earth Engine and Python, producing spatial flood-risk classification maps.
- Built a Google Earth Engine pipeline using Landsat imagery and NDWI classification to quantify 1985–2024 surface-water dynamics of the Aral Sea through seasonal compositing and time-series analysis.
- Conducted watershed and river-network analysis across the Chirchiq, Raritan, and Kiso basins using QGIS, focusing on morphometric indicators relevant to runoff generation and basin response.
Environmental Fluid Dynamics Research Intern
